The Psychological Truth Of Dropping Head Hair

By Eugene Yeng

For any of us, at any part of our lives, the psychological impact of dropping hair can be a very great stressor. Hair loss does not only affect men in their middle age. Women and children can also experience hair loss at any time.

Did you know that we can lose up to one hundred hairs from our heads every day? We have so many millions of hairs on our heads that a hundred hairs can be lost with no real significance.

We see more of them shedding when we actively wash or brush our hair because firstly, that is when we are more conscious of our hair and our main focus is on our hair. But also, secondly because the action of rubbing or brushing your scalp can make hair fall out slightly sooner, which would have fallen out later that day anyway.

But, if you are convinced that your hair loss is more than just this natural shedding then there are certain things that you can do to find out for sure. Run your hand through your hair if it is not tied back. Do more than a few strands of hair come away in your fingers? If the answer is yes, then you may be right to be worried.

Some hair loss can be attributed to a particularly stressful part of life. If, when you examine your lifestyle, you see that you are moving house after a bad divorce, then you will be doing some of the most stressful things known in the modern existence today. A certain amount of hair loss during this time is perfectly natural. What can you do? Wait for the heavy stress to go away and your hair will probably start to grow back.

By eliminating any unnecessary stress in a lifestyle, it will be seen that hair might start to regrow. The psychological impact of dropping hair can actually have a real physical effect. Even just worrying about dropping hair can cause more hair to fall out.

It is as if our bodies are telling us that they are so stressed that they can no longer be bothered with trivial things like growing the hair on our heads! If this is the case and you often find yourself tense or if you know that you are going through a stressful time in your life, then it is very important to find time to de-stress.

In this case, learn to relax in every situation. You will also appear more confident and will improve your attitude by not standing hunched up and stressed. Other things can also help a great deal. Simply living a more healthy lifestyle can have a huge impact. The little things such as getting to sleep on time and waking early are important. Also important are getting plenty of regular exercise and eating a healthy balanced diet which is full of the essential vitamins and minerals which help to encourage hair regrowth. Hair loss can be tragic, but it does not need to be permanent. Even someone who has become totally bald can find that their hair can start to grow back if they can change into a more relaxed, carefree person.
