What To Do When You Are Losing Your Hair

Finding an effective way to deal with hair loss can be difficult. Those that experience balding usually don't take any steps to prevent it because of this. With the tips provided in this article you will learn how to prevent hair loss and ways to make sure you don't lose more hair.

Avoid alcohol. Not only is alcohol high in calories and sugar, it can lower your blood levels of zinc, vitamin C, and vitamin B. Loss of these vitamins on a regular basis can result in hair loss because hair growth depends on those chemicals. As you lose those vitamins, you lose your hair.

Many people still think it's a myth that hats and rubber bands can cause hair loss in women, but in fact, it's partially true. While hats and ponytails won't actually cause balding, repeated friction and tightly pulled hair can cause localized hair loss and breakage at the hairline. Use coated hair bands and don't pull hair too tightly to keep this to a minimum.

To avoid hair loss, take steps to increase your blood circulation. You should get plenty of exercise, take a good multivitamin daily that is rich in B vitamins and vitamin E. Drink herbal teas that increase circulation such as ginger tea and gingko biloba tea. Massage your scalp lightly each night before retiring.

Try not to tie your hair tightly too often. What happens when you do this is that it trains your hair to grow closer to the surface and may eventually just loose the hold on your scalp and start falling out. The hair that is toward the front of your head is most vulnerable to this.

Beware of hair loss if you are taking an anti-depressant. People commonly find their hair falling out when taking an anti-depressants because of the ingredients found in them. If it is possible, talk with your doctor about switching medications to see if a new one will stop hair loss.

If you use styling products on your hair, one practice you can use to prevent hair loss and to promote hair growth is to remove these sticky products, such as gels and waxes, from your hair each night before you go to bed. When you have your head pressed tight against a pillow, these products can migrate into you scalp and clog the pores. The chemical in these products are not good for the newly developing hairs in the follicles.

If you suffer from hair loss, you may want to consider taking anti-androgens. This helps block out the hormones that tend to cause hair loss. Just be sure that you consult with your doctor before using anti-androgens. Your doctor may want to run blood work to make sure they are safe for you to take.

Although it's certainly not as important as one of our limbs, hair does become an emotional part of our lives. Being attached to something and then losing it can be traumatic. Remember to apply the information you've learned above in order to fight back against hair loss. With the right information, it's a battle you're sure to win.
