Did You Know This About Women's Hair Loss?

By Eric Huff

How many times have you been watching television and seen a commercial promoting some product that is supposed to reverse baldness in men? That even includes the aerosol men's cosmetic hair loss cover-up. It's not hard to figure out that the major awareness is directed toward men's hair loss. The fact about women's hair loss is they do suffer from it and experience the same, if not more, emotional trauma. Women lose their hair in startling numbers - just as many women as men, and for even more reasons than men. We'll cover just some of the primary reasons for women's hair loss.

Quite a few conditions can impair a woman's normal hair growth cycle, and the thyroid is one such area that can cause problems. The thyroid gland can experience a host of conditions that will produce unwanted effects on women. The most widely recognized thyroid disorders are Hashimoto's disease and cancer. Thyroid conditions and disorders often cause hair loss in women as it's a common symptom. Sudden and unexpected hair loss for women is something that should be taken-up with a family physician. Hair loss can appear to be happening with some women, but it's due to her hormones. Hormones that are not in a state of balance can can any number of reactions. Hormones will have an effect on moods, weight, and energy. The range of effect on hair include outright hair loss, or maybe some degree of thinning, but also an interruption in the growth cycle. The recommended course of action is to always see a doctor if you begin to detect changes similar to what we've discussed. At that point, having your overall body chemistry checked out along with doctor recommended action is the way to go.

One of the more alarming types of female hair loss is telogen effluvium. But it is commonly called, temporary shedding. But the unusual aspect of this is that the shedding occurs at a very quick rate. Any kind of extreme trauma can bring this on, even something like having a surgery. Another condition that can cause this is higher than normal emotional distress. Men are not as lucky because with this condition, the hair will grow back and be fine after the distress or trauma are over. However if it's a negative, then that is that you don't know if it'll happen to you.

Women's hair loss doesn't get nearly as much documentation as the hair loss that men suffer through. What is well-known is that women have hair loss issues in many different contexts.

Women's hair loss is often seen in particular chronic states. But the thing to remember is that it is the medicine that is responsible for the hair loss in some of these situations. In other situations, if there is hair loss involved it is a symptom, and that will help the physician make a diagnosis. A chronic illness is one that is not easily cured and that people suffer from for most of their lives. Then it becomes a situation of quality of life and effectively managing the illness. As is often the case, here, the hair loss has to be endured because the medication needs to be taken. But there are alternatives regarding hair loss, and your doctor can make suggestions for you. There are many causes of hair loss in women. There are environmental, emotional, and physical scenarios and reasons. If you want to know for absolute sure, then just see your physician for tests and assessment. It make take a little time because often times tests need to be performed, but in the end you'll find out for sure what it is. There are usually options for many situations, and they will be the ones who can best offer you the choices that are available.
